I wrote this poem as a reflection on love, loss, and the possibility that our connections with those we love may continue in ways we don’t fully understand. I recently shared it to open a workshop on evidential mediumship and spirit art.
The Key
We walked together, you and I
throughout life’s walkways, mossy, flat and steep
When I think of you, the fog rises
bringing a new day for me
to walk again without your hand to hold
Yet, go with me now
I sense your spirit from a smell, a taste, a look
As the spring of your spirit rushes
against the rock of my being
The peek behind the curtain of time and space
gives me a respite from the longing in my heart
Let me hold you, protect you
like a leaf in autumn that will not decay
under winter’s cold
For the moments we lived
do not diminish with time
These traces become a key
used to unlock a secret passage
from my world to yours
Love is transformed but continues its beauty
in the new landscape you and I share
